In Their Own Words: the Montreal Sessions, will be unlike anything else heard on Canadian airways or the world wide web.

This ten part band profile series is a mixture of first person narrative and music collage. The musicians featured share, in their own words, their experience, inspirations, and aspirations in pursuit of their artistic vision. Music is integral to the series. Each band profile features as much of the band�s music as possible. It is edited, mixed, and remixed to create movement and mood, all the while complementing the views and ideas expressed by the artists.

The goal of the series is to go beyond the twenty second sound bite or five minute meet-and-greet interview. In Their Own Words is a time capsule of sorts. It documents the evolution of a band and of its members at one point in time in the Montreal music scene. But in its simplest form, it is designed to help promote some of the great music that is coming out of Montreal.

In Their Own Words has yet to be broadcast or up loaded to the internet, but there is already buzz around the series created by those who have heard excerpts of In Their Own Words.

Now into its sixth year, the KoSA Music Academy (and world music centre), founded and directed by Aldo Mazza of the internationally renown group �Repercussion�, opens its doors this fall for another exciting year of private instruction and ensemble classes. To start off our fall KoSA is hosting an open house event, which will take place on Saturday, September 6 from 1:30 pm to 5pm. Our open house will feature FREE drum clinics: a 20-minute djembe African drumming clinic and a special invited drummer who will hold a clinic for all to learn more about drum kit playing. Okay...

So I move to Montreal after living in Berlin, Germany for 7 years.. brought about 500 of my fave vinyl with me. All of my money is going to living costs right now though, and I have no system to play my records! I'm dying! It's been .. like.. months since I last even listened to the stuff. Some records I bought during the move haven't even come out of their dust slips yet! AAAAHHH!

Does anyone have decks and decent monitors... and maybe a free evening now and then to get together for ping-pong or whatever. I'll bring 2 of the following

1. pizza
2. beer
3. smoke

Most of my stuff is funky minimal tech house (Perlon, Circus, Spectral, Modelisme, Tuning Spork, GSR, Classic, UR), but I have enough vinyl and broad enough taste to mesh with anyone outside of drum and bass. Plus, I've got a shitload of Italo Disco, ecclectic no-wave disco and funk, and Space Lounge from the 50's and 60's on my laptop if anyone wants to Traktor or Live.

I also play a wicked guitar solo and sing like an angel who has taken singing lessons. If that's interesting.

I'm a bass player in my mid 30's. Got a family and a steady day job. I'm looking to join an existing, active band, which for some reason needs a new bassist. I'm not interested in helping to form a new band, sorry.

Ideally, I'd like to play a blend of funk and rock, perhaps with some synths thrown in. That being said, I'm open minded. As long as I'm into your music, the particular style doesn't matter that much.

I can easily find time to jam once or twice a week, and go to gigs on weekends, or even week days on occasion.

Hey Everyone,

We are a singer/guitar player and a keyboardist trying to get our project off the ground. We are looking for a guitarist first who can learn a few of our older songs, and help us in composing a new album. We are looking for someone long term who wants to be a part of something serious and will take equal ownership over the band as we do. Our main goal is to be as original as possible, yet still warm to all categories of listeners. We like artists like Pearl Jam, David Bowie, Beatles, Nirvana, Radiohead, Petty, Cash, Spiritualized, Mogwai, Flaming Lips, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, Super Furry Animals and lots more.

We are both 27, and are easy going and patient with the music making process. We are not wizards of our instrument's, but we can keep with a beat and like to be very creative in our playing, however if your too good you might not like us. We have lots of stage and studio experience. Also educated in recording arts and with decent knowledge of musical notation.

A few years back I used to play bass in a cover band and there was so many I could have gigged every night if I wanted to.Bass player were pretty hard to find then I guess. Now however I've been looking to join a cover band for the last couple of weeks and it seems like it's impossible. So, I will keep trying! If any cover bands out there looking for a bass player, let me know.

Harmonia Westmount Choral Ensemble is seeking female voices for their Fall and Winter semesters. Soprano voices are much needed but all voice types are welcome.

Auditions will take place Tuesday September 2nd and 9th at Victoria Hall, 4626 Sherbrooke Street West, near Lansdowne, in Salle Prud'Homme 7pm

We rehearse Tuesdays 7.00-9.15

so yeah, i'm a guitarist looking for like minded individual in montreal for serious band and/or individual wanting to play, tour and succeed in the industry.
i'm also pretty knowledged on the inner workings of the music biz, from booking agents, labels, promotion, etc... and very aware of the music markets.
although Montreal is just not the market for the ressurgent styles of sleaze/dirty punk rock that i'd like to play. but maybe the individual are here to break out.
bands i'm influenced by: Backyard Babies, Motley Crue, GNR, Silver(Norway), New York Dolls, Hanoi Rocks, Dead Boys...and the list can go on.
